I couldn’t be more thrilled to announce that both books we published last year, Trove and ParentShift, each have been awarded a prestigious Nautilus Book Award.
Trove: A Woman’s Search for Truth and Buried Treasure by Sandra A. Miller won gold in the Memoir category — a famously difficult category to win.
ParentShift: Ten Universal Truths That Will Change the Way You Raise Your Kids by Linda and Ty Hatfield and, um, myself (awkward) took a silver in Parenting & Family. ParentShift has racked up six award nominations (and three wins) this season, a record for Brown Paper Press.
We LOVE the Nautilus Book Awards, whose previous winners include Deepak Chopra, Barbara Kingsolver, Louise Erdrich, Thich Nhat Hanh and so many other notables. And we so appreciate its mission, which complements our own:
Dedicated to excellence in literature and open to books around the world, the Nautilus Awards program looks for “exceptional literary contributions to spiritual growth, green values & sustainability, high-level wellness, responsible leadership and positive social change & social justice, as well as to the worlds of art, creativity and inspirational reading for children, teens and young adults.”
According to Nautilus judges, there were a record-number of books submitted for this year’s competition. So huge congratulations to Sandra for taking gold, and to Linda and Ty Hatfield — and, um, myself? Jesus, is this awkward! — for taking silver. I couldn’t be more proud of my comrades.
And now I gotta go. I’m pretty sure I pulled a muscle trying to pat myself on the back.
